We help people previously in low-paid, dead-end jobs soar to brand new heights with a lucrative career in the commercial inspection industry.
For the last 30 years, we’ve mentored hundreds of individuals from all different career backgrounds to become inspectors in the flourishing commercial inspection industry. Our former students go on to land positions in some of North America’s top inspection companies—and never look back.
So what exactly is an inspector? Many people have not heard of this industry before—this is because commercial inspections are part of the “hidden job market”, where positions are not necessarily advertised publicly. Instead, employers may use internal candidates to fill these roles, or seek qualified individuals directly through recruiters. When you graduate from MMG, we’ll use our extensive inspection company directory to connect you directly with companies in your area.
Inspections are an arm of the commercial finance industry. For example, before any financial institution (bank, leasing company, credit union, etc.) loans money they will always send an inspector to verify the documentation (title, MSO, BOS, registration) of the equipment (vehicles, boats, recreational vehicles, motorcycles, etc.) to ensure accuracy and legitimacy.
Additional Commercial Inspections include:
General Site – verification of existing structure and evaluation of best land usage
Franchise – location, visibility, accessibility, condition, and viability
AIM (Audit Inventory Management) – floor plan for all dealerships for new vehicles, appliances and other equipment
Leasing – auditing office, restaurant, and business equipment
In the US alone, there is an overwhelming amount of vehicles being repossessed each day, the current count is nearly 25,000 which equates to over 750,000 per month – this is an astronomical amount vehicle condition inspections. This does not include all the boats, RVs, and trailers which are also being repossessed. Every repo needs an inspection to determine the current value related to condition, milage, and options. All financial institutions rely upon inspectors to provide accurate and detailed information pertaining to their newly acquired assets.
The global commercial finance industry services market is currently worth $9.4 billion and booming. Over the next decade, it’s expected to grow by 6.9% annually, reaching an eye-watering $18.2 billion by the end of 2032—although some estimates put this even higher. What’s more, North America currently accounts for around 40% of the global market, which puts you in pretty good stead as a U.S. citizen.
Why such significant growth? The mushroom effect is partly due to COVID-19. During the pandemic, restrictions such as social distancing, remote working, and business closures meant that business in the commercial inspection industry slowed. Now the pandemic is over, it’s picking up again.
In addition, COVID caused an already existing labor shortage issue to skyrocket. Financial companies found it hard to find the right people with the relevant skills and experience. Another factor is rising business closures globally. The more closures there are, the more inspections need to be carried out.
